Welcome, my name is Chris and I was first introduced to yerba mate (or simply maté) as a sophomore in high school. I sat next to my Argentine classmate Facundo who ended up becoming one of my closest friends. In our free time we would hang out and he would offer me maté. Little-by-little I began to learn more about this herb and experience the benefits of focus, calm, energy, and so much more firsthand! As someone who values health and grew up drinking coffee I wanted to incorporate mate into my routine. I figured if I can drink it 2 days a week imagine how much sugar and calories I can cut from my diet over 1 year. I loved this new drink and wanted to make it part of my daily routine. When I was ready to dive in I ran into unexpected obstacles. First, there was a lack of yerba mate variety on the store shelves and online. It was always the same brands, prepared the same way. Secondly, there was a lack of education surrounding how personalized yerba mate could actually be! I conducted my own research and realized that there are many things that can affect the flavoring and your overall experience and this info was not readily available. This was disheartening to me and I was compelled to do something about this. My goal is to make people as excited about this life-changing plant as I am. I felt driven to locate and provide the highest quality yerba mate options from its native region and share the relevant information about these options so people can understand the process from A-Z and enjoy it.
